Today, all associations met with the GCYFA conference to discuss this season for football and cheer with the COVID-19 epidemic still occurring. With a heavy heart, it was majority vote with all associations agreeing to cancel the season at this time. We will be meeting with the conference later in August to discuss if the season can be started later in January of 2021 or just regroup and push for Fall 2021.
We will be reaching out to the families for football in getting refunds back to you asap. Please be patient with us as this was not expected since we were close to starting the season.
With that being said, we are working on building a baseball season later this year to keep the kids active during the off season of football. This way, the kids can be able to do both sports and hang with their friends all year round.
Commissioner Jenn and President Lisa are discussing cheer options as AYF organization is pushing forward for cheer competition for this year and it will be live streamed from a gym here locally as they will judge from another location.
We will be reviewing all safety guidelines in order to keep the kids and parents safe as look to possibly having a cheer season. Please give a little time for the board to discuss and review all information for cheer so a decision can be made in what direction to move forward.
In either case, the parents that have paid for cheer will be receiving refunds if a decision is made not to move forward for cheer competition. We will be reaching out to the cheer parents with more information soon.
